RECRUITMENT FQA

FAQs

WHAT IS RECRUITMENT?

Recruitment is a period in which any females who are interested in the sorority get to know the Sisters, and vice versa, through many planned activities. This is a chance to meet new people and participate in the daily functioning and benefits of the sorority. It is also a great time to ask any questions you might have about Delta Phi Lambda, sorority life, or the Greek system.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

If you identify as an undergraduate, full-time, female student at the University of Iowa looking to help improve the Asian and multi-cultural community along with your own development, it would be a privilege to welcome you to our chapter!

In order to be considered for a bid, we ask that our potential new members attend an information session and 3 other events. This is so we can see your dedication to our organization, and willingness to meet new Sisters! For the sake of our 7th Virtue, we also ask that our potential new members have a GPA of at least 2.70 upon joining.

DO I HAVE TO BE ASIAN TO JOIN?

NOPE! Although we are an Asian-Interest Sorority and work to embrace Asian culture and the Asian community, we are a diverse organization that seeks to explore all cultures.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO JOIN?

All recruitment events are completely free!

However, dues from our members are collected each semester and go toward our national board and own chapter funds, adding up to approximately $250 per semester depending on the headcount of our chapter members.

Fees that go to the National Board cover insurance, national events, and other services for all our Sisters. Fees that go to our own chapter cover Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) dues, Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) dues, annual convention dues, and other chapter necessities. These are organizations and events that help provide programs for our members, therefore, the money goes back to YOU, as a member!

IF I GO THROUGH RECRUITMENT, DO I HAVE TO JOIN?

As a potential new member, you are under no obligation to become an affiliate member of Delta Phi Lambda. Although we hope you can feel at home with us, we understand that it might not be right for everyone!
